How to wear white in winter 5

Winter White 5
Winter White 5 auf polyvore
Sorbet-shades like raspberry, pistachio and apricot or soft shades in delicate crème or soft pink as well as vanilla or greige, these are the pastel colors, every woman can wear. They reappear periodically as a trend. Especially in spring and summer the light colors with a lot of white have many fans.

But I love the mix with white also in winter and particularly with my pastel green cozy sweater. Layering with a crisp white button-down, this pullover shows to its advantage. Sneakers in white bring a sportive touch to this outfit.

There are many other ways to wear white in winter. How do you do it?

White and black combinations are classics. Bright and dark contrast very well and give excitement to outfits. These two colors fit very well together and can also be worn at every event. And since white and black stay tendentially classic, you can play with different style and sometimes feminine and sometimes sporty. Black and white together is timeless.

Favorite designer: Lena Hoschek

Berlin Fashion Week fall/winter 2015 is over and there was a lot to see on the official homepage and on various fashion blogs. Most of the outfits shown in Berlin are can be worn on the streets but they are not very trend setting. Young designers like Bobby Kollade showed very impressive work but the real trends are made in the backyards of the actual flipped out Berlin. Since it starts so early in the season, we can get inspired and actually wear the trends right now and don't have to wait for autumn.

My favorite designer who is also more traditionell and designs fashion for woman over 40, is Lena Hoschek. Her autum/winter collection which I liked a lot is again very beautiful.

Lena Hoschek F/W 2015 auf Polyvore
For quite some time, the Austrian designer Lena Hoschek guarantees beautiful retro-fashion reminiscent of the 50s and 60s. Beehive-hairstyles and cat-eyes as well as jazz music frame this kind of fashion on the runway. Dresses, full skirts and wide pants made of tweed, tulle or lace warrant absolute femininity and a lot of elegance. Her designs are picture-perfect and ideal for the hourglass figure and also for the full figure.

Button-down coatdresses with a swinging skirt as well as elegant dresses you can war at the office but also for after work cocktails are in the center of her collection. Graphic or flower prints in strong colors like red, green and a lot of blue (theme of the collection is "L'heure Bleue - the blue hour") dominate. Extraordinary is the traditional last look, a very opulent floor-length bride's gown.

How to wear white in winter 3

Winter White 3 auf polyvore
Here comes my advice for a weekend city stroll. If it's not so cold, a warm knitted poncho comes in handy. I love my thick one with a big rolled neck. Unfortunately, it is difficult to get it on and off, since there is this turtleneck which can ruin hair and makeup. Therefore, a visit of a cafe or restaurant is not recommended. However, warm boots with big socks keep your feet warm, no matter how long the walk takes.

How to wear white in winter 2

Winter White 2 auf polyvore
Today it's white again. I like neutral colors like light brown or tan a lot. These colors go wonderfully with white. I also like to mix delicate fabrics with chunky knits. Here I combined the pleated maxi skirt of fine polyester with a chunky cable knit sweater. The white down jacket complements the rest of the outfit and keeps us warm.

How to wear white in Winter 1

Winter white auf polyvore
Today I am starting a series on how to style the trend White in Winter. This color is supposed to be not a color but considering it as a neutral tone. Normally, it's getting real cold where I live but this year is different. So I take the opportunity to often wear the most radiant color which brings other colors to a glow.

In today's combination the white wool coat is very dominant. I love white jeans in winter and in summer. The loose snuggle sweater with bat sleeves and turtleneck as well as the tall suede boots give me a cosy feeling. Golden jewelry and the gold of the bag let the outfit shine all day.

Tomorrow I will show you my look 2 with white.

How to style grey culottes

Grey culottes
Grey culottes auf polyore

Today I loved this trendy and comfortable outfit. Since it is cold outside, the mid-length wide pants together with the knee-high boots are cosy. I prefer boots with high heels together with mid-length skirts or pants, because the look gets more elegant. To go outside I combined a warm belted coat and a hat, everyhing in grey with black accessoires. Red lipstick make the outfit complete. .

Movie to visit: Theory of Everything

Theory of Everything  auf Polyvore
The fascinating story of the well-known astrophysicist Stephen Hawking starts in the beginning sixties with a young man (Eddie Redmayne) who is studying at the University of Cambridge. He meets Jane Wilde (Felicity Jones), also student and an attentive spirit. Despite their contrary views, especially about god, they fall in love with each other. But soon Stephen notices changes in his motor function and after a breakdown he gets diagnosed ALS (a degenerative neurological disease) with only two more years remaining to live. A big jar for the young couple but Jane still wants to marry him.

Stephen becomes a doctor and continues to impress with his scientific achievements on the fields of physics and astronomy. Years go by and his physical activities are continually decreasing but his mind is staying awake und he also shows a lot of humor in mastering his harsh fate. The couple gets three children and the family, especially Jane, tries to act like a normal family. As the movie goes on, it is displayed how hard it is to live a normal life on such premises.

The film is based on the novel “Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen” written by the real Jane Wilde (former Hawking) and focusses on the relationship between Stephan and Jane. Their weaknesses and their strenghts and both their complicated personalities are shown. The fate of this great mathematician is displayed in a very touching way, It lets us think about live, love and the universe. A story about not giving up and incredible courage to master live even with great misfortune. I recommend everybody to visit this movie, because you will definitely leave cinema with a cheering feeling.

Winner of the Golden Globes 2015

Fashion is very interesting for me but who are the great winners of the Golden Globes 2015?

As opposed to the Oscars, where 6000 members vote, the movies here are judged by only 90 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA). Since 1943 chosen foreign jounalists, who live in South California pick the winners. The HFPA ist now a non-profit organization, which donates the millions of dollars from the TV-broadcasts mainly for educational funding in the film and TV sector.

golden globes 2015 auf Polyvore
The interesting concept of "Boyhood" from Richard Linlater is best movie (drama). The movie was made during 12 full years and therefore is really special. Wes Anderson's "The Grand Budapest Hotel" won best movie (comedy).

Eddie Redmayne got the award for best actor (drama) for his appearance in "The theory of Everything", the film telling the story of the well-known astro-physician Stephen Hawking. This is a movie I definitely will go watching. Michael Keaton won the statue for best actor (comedy) for his role in "Birdman" and is together with Eddie Redmayne favorite at the Oscars.

Best actress (drama) won the gorgeous Julianne Moore for her role of a professor who develops Alzheimer very early in "Still Alice." Patricia Arquette is best supporting actress in "Boyhood". Best actress (comedy) is Amy Adams for "Big Eyes". Austrian actor Chistoph Waltz, who plays the leading actor in this movie didn't win a prizce.

Best supporting actor is JK Simmons in "Whiplash". George Clooney received the lifetime achievement award.  Best animation picture is "How to train your dragon". A complete list, also for the TV-series you can find here

Golden Globes Fashion 2015

The presentation of the Golden Globes awards 2015 is over and the most beautiful actresses in the most stunning outfits went over the red carpet. My most favorites this year are:

Anna Kendrick auf Polyvore
The fairytale gown reminds me of her movie "Into the Woods". This  robe from the pre-fall collection of Monique Lhullier is my favorite. The sleeveless blush tulle gown is embroidered allover with red beads. The ruffeld v-neckline is not too deep but still sexy without being crude. Anna looks like a princess and especially the small ruby belt makes the outfit complete. Matching earrings from Fred Leigthon, the simple bun and the subtle makeup complement the gorgeous gown. I would wear this dress in a more powerful color.

Julianne Moore  auf Polyvore
Julianne Moore astonished everybody with her appearance in Beverly Hills. Silver sequins and feathers decorate the gown from Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci. The sequins change from top to bottom from silver to black and end with a cascade of black feathers in the train. But of course very important: she won the award for best actress drama for playing Dr. Alice Howland in "Still Alice". Julianne rocked the extravagant dress with her immense presence. I didn' like her hair this time, a sleek bun would have better accentuated the high neckline and we would have better seen the glittery earrings from Chopard  Her makeup with smokey eyes and impressive lashes completed the elegant dress.
Amy Adams auf Polyvore
Amy Adams is the winner in the category best leading actress comedy/musical and impresses with her high-neck dress from Versace (they also make these) and jewelry from Tiffany &Co. She looked like a hollywood diva with the roman inspired toga like gown.

Felicity Jones auf Polyvore
Opinions over the outfit of Felicity Jones are controverse. I liked her a lot in the absolutely elegant Christian Dior Haute Couture gown in the unusual great teal color. The color is extravagant, the cut of the dress extraordinary. She looke like a princess without the sweetness but with an edge.

Helen Mirren  auf Polyvore
Helen Mirren is one of the geat actresses of our time, which proved that they still can be sexy and gorgeous and impress on the red carpet. The woman of 69 choose a red and really tight dress from Versace with Chopard earrings.

Emma Stone  auf Polyvore
Charming Emma Stone ("Magic in the Moonlight") showed courage in wearing a jumpsuit vom Lanvin consisting of a a silver top with sequins and black ankle-length pants. The striking detail is a long black trail. Actually, I prefer long gowns at such an event but this was an absolutely cool appearance.

Julianne Moore in Dolce & Gabbana

One of my favorite actresses Julianne Moore took my breath away once again when appearing on the red carpet at the 2014 National Board of Review Gala in New York.

Julianne Moore auf polyvore
The wonderful actress wore a very elegant Dolce & Gabbana dress consisting of a black lace top over a bustier and a black midi-length skirt with red carnations printed on it. Julianne made the look gorgeous with a sleek long braid and laced black sandals from Aquazzura. She presented herself together with her husband since 2003 Bart Freundlich and they made a very stylish couple.

As always, the actress ("Maps to the Star") with her wonderful red hair and the fair complexion looked much younger than 54. For makeup she used pink lipstick and strong eyeliner. And she also got the prize for best leading actress in the movie "Still Alice" for playing an Alzheimer patient. The movie will be in cinemas here in Austria in March. To get a good impression watch the trailer here.

Julianne Moore is even nominated twice for the Golden Globes 2014: for leading actress drama in "Still Alice" und for leading actress comedy/musical in "Maps to the Stars". I am looking forward to the Golden Globes tomorrow, naturally also because of the beautiful gowns on the red carpet. You can see my favorite looks of last year here

Dinner with friends

Dinner with friends on polyvore
I love my leather pencil skirt, because it has a wild image but is in its form very feminine. Therefore, it is possible to mix rock chic with feminine elegance. To put something soft against the wild image, I like to wear it together with a white silk blouse closed upfront or in winter with woolen sweaters. With opaque tights and knee-high boots it gets even warmer. The clutch in white and golden bangles and watch as well as pearl earrings enhance the elegant image.

You will certainly not see me in a mini leather skirt, because I prefer the knee length or even midi length. Up till now, I also hesitated to wear it in combination with other leather clothing pieces, but this year I will give it a try. Because there are countless possibilities to style a leather skirt.

Movie to visit: Magic in the Moonlight

Woody Allen's Magic in the Moonlight is situated in France during the years of 1920 and is a magnificant romantic comedy as known from Woody Allen. Made in the style of movies of the golden Hollywood age Magic in the Moonlight has turned out an amusing and amicable movie.

The arrogant Stanley (Colin Firth) - a great magician - is asked by his old friend Howard (Simon McBurney), also magician, to come to France to detect a young woman for her fake transcendental skills. Sophie Baker (Emma Stone) plays the role of the young and delicate american, who charms all people around her. The son of a wealthy american family even wants to marry her. Stone is wonderful in this role with her magnificant blue eyes and her own glow.

Stanley ist a big sceptic and he doesn't believe in God nor does he believe in psychodelic humbug. Maybe Woody Allen's own believes? But Sophie manages to change the sceptic and shows him the beautiful sights in life like the smell of flowers or the moonlight sky. Ideal for this is the landscape of the  Cote d'Azur. First he believes in Sophies phsychic skills - she has her tricks and works together with Howard - but then his scetpism comes through and he ends up as a lovestruck fool.

I will not disclose much more but the movie with its great cast, the jazz soundtrack, beautiful costumes and the stunning landscape has put a spell on me.

Hat adventure

Hat adventure auf polyvore

Today I got inspired by the German blogger Kirsten (her great blog: thelifbissue.com) to take out my hat, which normally lies forgotten in the corner of my dressing room. First, it felt very strange but I got used to it and a couple of recognizing glimpses. Our weather right now is quite cold and I don't like beanies at all, because they always remind me of winter sports.

To compliment my look, I choose a cosy brown jacket made of faux fur, jeans and a sweater and accessoires in camel colours. The booties are black and elegant but casual at the same time, my prefered boots this winter. The hat turned my shopping today into an aha experience.

Conchita Wurst on Times Square

Conchita Wurst ist right now shining from the largest billboard ever on Times Square in New York.

Images of Times Square on Polyvore

The largest billboard in the history of Times Square is rented by Google and Austrian singer Conchita Wurst is on it. Rumours are that the rent costs 2,5 million Dollars every 4 weeks. The reason for this great success of  Conchita Wurst is that in 2014, she was under the top 10 of Google's worldwide most searched terms. Being number 7, Conchita, the winner of 2014 Eurovision Song Contest was in May even ahead of Beyonce or Lady Gaga. I also think it is time for such a step and I that she deserves this big attention for her appearance for tolerance.

In the list of Googles most searched terms, which Google publishes every year, there ist only one person ahead (number 1): Robin Williams, the big actor. Following the complete list: Robin Williams, World Cup, Ebola, Malaysia Airlines, ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, Flappy Bird, Conchita Wurst, ISIS, Frozen and Sochi Olympics.

For the very likeable Wurst this happens at the right moment, since on January 11 she will visit the Golden Globes. This will be her first US appearance and many Americans will already know her by then. Some of my posts relating to Conchita: here right after the Song Contest, here a shooting with Karl Lagerfeld and here with Jean Paul Gaultier through the night in Vienna.
